Evergreen Baptist Church was founded in 1845.  At that time the Baptist and Methodist congregations met on alternating Sundays in the school building on the south side of Evergreen Cemetery.  An original church on the present site was built prior to 1895 and was utilized until the present church sanctuary was completed in 1977. In 1985 the original sanctuary building was donated to the San Jacinto Area Public Library and moved to the Old Town area of Coldspring.

The current fellowship hall building was completed in 1986 and a Sunday School expansion was completed in 1989.  Pastor Gary Ladner retired after 35 years in 2021. After Pastor Gary Ladner retired the church started to seek out the next pastor. Through prayer and searching God called Pastor Dalton Currie to our church on February 1, 2022.  God continues to bless Evergreen Baptist Church in our mission to grow His church, bringing the gospel to those who don’t know Jesus in our community.
